Good show. I am pleased to see an increasing number established men are reaching back to straighten up as many young brothers that are reachable instead of looking for someone to blame.

Has a definite good point in the show but regardless of that fact. There are still ways to gain an education and raise yourself from that poverty at least for the children of today. Public education systems are in effect.

Now coming from that type of system, I know that it is not necessarily the best. Especially going to a tech school, the average person coming from my high school would probably not have been a match for engineering. That doesn't mean there are no means to get an education and get into college.

Point is, look at the situation then. It's fine to look at the past. Learn from it. BUT, you must also look at the situation now and look forward towards the situation that you'd want in the future. Say to yourself, "What do I need to do to get myself out of it...BESIDES risking myself by getting into drugs, violence, and just reckless hustling. What am I good at so that I can make some money in a legit manner and rise up from the ground?" And it doesn't even need to be school...

Not knocking the struggle that minorities, black people, especially have gone through since I'm hispanic. However, no one can afford to have this defeatist mood and not do something for yourself because of the setup you were given from birth. Find by any means necessary, THAT IS SAFE AND LEGIT, to push forward and strive in this world.

Again, nice words of encouragement, I must say.

Best show ever, the white flight is true here in Chicago...many of the suburbs that were once populated by White people are now dilapidated, and the inner city is flourishing. Black people in general need to get down on it.

Great show if not the best i've heard, should be a book as someone said previously. Touched on alot of neccessary topics. A show about brothers helping other brothers is also very neccessary.

Matter of fact I was reading an insider Advertising magazine and it had an article that discussed the "URBAN" marketing that's taking place. From walmart to mcdonalds to koolaid...I'll find it and try to email it.

Real Spit Mayne, I'm feelin this one!...lol@ the "i don't give a fuck gene"

The whole more black men in jail than college bs...manipulated statitsics! College age is what? 18-25, when they say "prison" they're referring to jail, prison, parole AND probabtion and thats blacks of ANY age 1-100...go figure

White privilege is real, but like i always tell my folks, you can be a Hero or a Victim. In other words like a wise man once said, "You can be good at makin excuses or you can be good at making results...you can't be good at them both"

Hey Tariq, great show i really appreciate you looking out for the brothers, because sometimes it seems like all we have is ourselves. This type of information needs to be broadcast on major shows.

Make me want to make more money to help our brothers in need.

Blockbusting

First an agent or developer persuades white people to sell their houses at low prices by telling them that black people are moving into their neighborhood, exploiting their racism and fear of lowered property values. Then, the real-estate agent raises the price of the house and sells it to a black person.

The term may have originated in Chicago, where, in order to accelerate the out-migration of economically successful residents to better neighborhoods outside ghettos, people were hired to create a visual presence in the restricted neighborhoods, encouraging residents to sell their properties and move to still more restrictive suburbs. For example, black women were paid/encouraged to push baby carriages in exclusive white neighborhoods to encourage white residents to sell their properties, on the premise that property values would decline with an increase in the visible social differences that characterized neighboring ghettos.

In a variation, a real-estate agent would refer African-American families interested in buying a home to a particular neighborhood that, while mostly white, was less expensive than other neighborhoods. Even prosperous black families were steered to the targeted neighborhood. When a black family bought a house, the broker would then place business cards in the mailboxes of neighboring houses. A developer may also buy properties in a neighborhood and leave them empty, to give the neighborhood an empty feeling to encourage holdouts to sell to him.

Courts have ruled that towns cannot prohibit the placing of outdoor "for sale" signs by homeowners to reduce the effect of blockbusting. Linmark v. Willingboro, 431 US 85 (1977)], because doing so would infringe upon freedom of expression.

Damn Tariq. That show sent chills down my spine. You are a smart dude. We are really some blessed brothers to have you out here spitting that good shit. NO OTHER generation had someone like you to talk in our language (not that church shit) about our issues. I don't want to hear about it being "god's will" about why we got it so fucked up in America. I hope Obama makes as much since about our plight, while in the white house for 8 years (yeah 8years), like you were able to do in 30 minutes.

King Flex For President!! oh yeah, and god bless you!!!

Tariq, it would be a good idea to explore the area of using "game" to get your foot in the door, scaling job interviews, closing deals, etc. This is an area a lot of young brothers have difficulty with and which there is a lack of information.

Man Flex This is so true from a-z! Could be the truest talk we've heard in a long time man. Funny My dude and me were just discussing this same stuff. Then i saw the and listen to this episode. Texted him asap, told him he nhas to hear this. Man every time you come with real stuff. Subjects that people dont like to hear or talk about. Thats one of the biggest downfalls in our society today. Lack of communincation and open disscutions about matters that needs to be addressed. This is one of them. Flex please keep flowing. You are an very inspiring brotha that is real as they come.

Be easy!

Tariq, you are a hero to black men everywhere. I feel a black man is the strongest human on this earth, despite what we've been through in history, we still sail through past all these adversities. I want us to get out of the hoods, get educated most especially and stop blaming others for our downfall, and most importantly get educated about our history, that is where we come from. That way we can rise up.

God bless you brother.

Very thought provoking show. As a Black woman....I never had any problem growing up, and seeing a plethera of good Black men. Once again, it all deals with the environment you are in or choose to surround yourself in. You are who you hang around!

All the men in my family are educated, well-verse and career oriented. They take care of their families and serve as protectors/providers. Yes, real men! They are husbands, not babies' daddies! They were taught by their fathers, regarding how to be a man, which is the key factor, in today's struggle with the Black man serving as the leader, he was pre-destined to be!

To the poster that demeaned the Church. The Church was the original civil service/rights center! If it wasn't for the Church....the Black man, would be extinct! Martin Luther King, was a minister first before he was an activist. Malcolm X was a minister first before he was an activist. Now we fortunately have more resources/programs, but one has to take the initiative to utilize them! The church was the platform for all woes, in the Black community!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

true story. God helps those who helps themselves. it's long past time for cats to stop. I'm a young black entrepreneur and we're VASTLY underrepresented when it comes to exposure if we're not in the music/sports sectors. no criminal record, no kids, 22, still in college and may go to grad school

Hey thanks for encouraging young men to value themselves. Very deep and enlightening talk you got there.

As for Barack Obama his Vice Presidential running mate should be Dennis Kucinich.
